Year Breaker Northeast 2027: The Sector You Must Not Disturb

Every year in flying stars has four "no-go" energies, and 2027's most sensitive one sits in the Northeast. It is called the Year Breaker (Sui Po), and it lands directly opposite the Tai Sui — the year's most respected energy, which sits in the Southwest in 2027. Where the Tai Sui is the honored guest, the Year Breaker is the disturbed one: the position most sensitive to disruption.

The Northeast needs double caution in 2027, because it does not only host the Year Breaker. The annual flying star that lands there is the 3 Jade — the argument star, all sharp words, hot tempers, and misunderstandings that escalate. Two agitations in one sector means one clear instruction: keep the Northeast especially calm this year, in every sense of the word.

The good news is that the rules here are simple, cheap, and mostly about what not to do. This page covers the one big rule, what counts as breaking it, how to calm the 3 Jade, and what to do if the Northeast is an important room in your home.

The one rule: no disturbance, all year

The Year Breaker rule is the same as the rule for the Five Yellow in the North and the San Sha in the West: no construction or disturbance in the Northeast for the whole flying-star year, which runs from Lichun on 4 February 2027 to 3 February 2028. That means no renovation, no drilling into walls, no hammering, no digging in the garden, and no tearing out fixtures in that sector.

The 2027 flying stars chart. Sectors marked with a warning must not be disturbed all year.

This is the question everyone asks, so here is the clean line on what counts. Counts: renovation, drilling, hammering, digging, jackhammering, tearing out fixtures — anything that shakes the structure or tears the ground. Does not count: normal living. Walking, talking, cooking, cleaning, rearranging furniture, hanging a picture with a small nail, children playing. Your home is for living in. The Year Breaker rules restrain construction, not life. The gray area is loud, sustained DIY — a weekend of sawing in a Northeast garage, for example. Use judgment: brief and quiet is fine; sustained and structural is not. When in doubt, do it in a safe sector.

If you rent, you are mostly exempt already — you are not renovating anyway. Your entire Year Breaker practice is: do not hang heavy things with power tools in the Northeast (or the North, West, or Southwest), and you are done. One paragraph, zero cost.

Why the Northeast is doubly sensitive in 2027

To understand the double caution, look at the full 2027 flying stars map: center 9 Purple, Southeast 8 White, Northwest 1 White, Southwest 6 White plus Tai Sui, South 4 Green, North 5 Yellow, West 2 Black plus San Sha, Northeast 3 Jade plus Year Breaker, East 7 Red. Most sectors carry one story in 2027. The Northeast carries two, and they reinforce each other: a sector that hates physical disturbance also hates noise and friction.

The 3 Jade stirs things up: snappy conversations, misunderstandings that escalate, that vague irritability where everyone gets on everyone's nerves. Who feels it most? Couples, families with teenagers, housemates, anyone working from home in the Northeast. If your household runs hot, this sector deserves attention. The important framing: the star does not cause arguments — it lowers the threshold. Knowing that is half the cure, because a household that expects a shorter fuse can plan around it.

Calming the 3 Jade: add Fire, lower the volume

The elemental cure for the 3 Jade is Fire, and the logic is tidy: in the five-element cycle, Wood produces Fire, so Fire energy exhausts the 3 Jade's Wood. This is the one affliction where red is the cure, not the problem. A warm red lamp, candles you actually light, red or orange accents — all of these siphon the argumentative energy into harmless warmth. See the five elements page if the producing cycle is new to you.

Soften with round shapes and warm light. Harsh angles and cold white light agitate; warm pools of lamplight calm. Table lamps beat overhead fluorescents here. And keep voices and volume down in this sector, literally. The 3 Jade feeds on noise and friction — loud TV, shouting across rooms, heated phone calls. Make the Northeast the quiet sector of the house in 2027.

Do not add Water or Wood here this year. Blue and black decor, fountains, forests of plants — Water feeds Wood, and Wood feeds the star. Keep plants modest in the Northeast for 2027. And do not hold heated discussions in this sector: if a difficult conversation is coming, have it anywhere else. Environment shapes tone more than we admit, and a calm room produces calmer conversations.

Make it stick with one household agreement for 2027: no heated topics after 9pm, or phones down at dinner, or a weekly walk where you talk things through calmly. The 3 Jade lowers the threshold for friction — a small standing agreement raises it back up. Environment plus habit beats either alone.

If the Northeast is your...

Living room: this is the highest-attention room for 2027. Warm lighting, red accents, low volume, soft furnishings. Make it the cozy room, not the debate room. Bedroom: keep it warm and romantic — the Fire cure doubles as ambiance. Avoid working or arguing in bed, which is good advice every year; the bedroom rules apply here as elsewhere.

Kitchen: the stove already brings Fire — convenient. Keep mealtimes pleasant; the kitchen table is not the place for difficult topics this year. Front door: come home gently. A warm porch light and a calm entry matter more in 2027, because the transition from outside stress to inside peace sets the tone for the whole evening. The entryway guide covers the landing-zone basics.

One more practical note: walk your home with this list once, before Lichun on 4 February 2027. For each room, note its sector and check the matching rule. Northeast room? Red lamp or warm light in place, volume low, no drilling planned. Ten minutes with this list covers every annual affliction rule in the book — and for the full picture, including the lucky sectors to spend time in, see the 2027 map and the Northwest career sector guide.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Year Breaker?

The Year Breaker (Sui Po) sits directly opposite the Tai Sui, the year's most respected energy. Where the Tai Sui is the honored guest, the Year Breaker is the disturbed one — the position most sensitive to disruption. In 2027 it occupies the Northeast.

What counts as disturbing the Northeast in 2027?

Renovation, drilling into walls, hammering, digging in the garden, jackhammering, and tearing out fixtures. Normal living does not count: walking, talking, cooking, cleaning, rearranging furniture, hanging a picture with a small nail, and children playing are all fine.

Why does the Northeast need double caution in 2027?

Because the 3 Jade argument star also lands in the Northeast in 2027. The Year Breaker rule says do not disturb the sector physically; the 3 Jade adds a second rule — keep it calm and quiet, because the sector also lowers the threshold for arguments.

Can I use the Northeast room at all in 2027?

Yes. The rules restrain construction, not life. Use the room normally, keep it calm and warmly lit, and save heated discussions for another room. Renters are mostly exempt already, since they are not renovating anyway.

What if I already started a renovation in the Northeast?

If work is already underway before Lichun on 4 February 2027, traditional practice generally treats ongoing work differently from starting fresh. The safest practical advice is to finish promptly and quietly, and start nothing new in that sector for the rest of the year.
