About Zhuge Jushi
Zhuge Jushi (诸葛居士) is a lay student of the old Chinese arts — someone who studies the tradition without claiming to be its master. It felt like the honest title.
He grew up with feng shui in China and now writes about it in plain English for readers between East and West. The project behind this site started with a simple observation: Western readers were getting curious about feng shui, and most English explanations were either too mystical to use or too watered-down to trust. This site and its books are an attempt at the missing middle — the real principles, in plain language, with practical steps you can try tonight.
The approach is consistent across everything here:
- Rule + why. Every recommendation comes with its reasoning, practical or traditional, so you can judge it yourself and improvise your own rules.
- No fear. No curses, no disasters, no "you must buy this or else." A star that brings heavier weather is managed with calm and a simple cure, not dread.
- No superstition-as-a-service. No fortune-telling, no BaZi readings, no promises of wealth, love, or health. Feng shui here is about arranging space, not predicting fate.
- No magic coins. A cure is an adjustment — moving furniture, adding light, clearing a corner — not a purchase. Anyone who tells you a specific expensive object is required is selling, not teaching.
The books
Feng Shui Made Simple ($12.99) is the room-by-room guide: 11 chapters, 9 original diagrams, and a 7-day home reset plan. Flying Stars 2027 ($9.99) is its annual companion: one chapter per star for the Fire Goat year, the four no-go zones, and a pre-Lichun setup checklist. Both are on the Books page.
