2027 Do's and Don'ts: The One-Page Checklist
This is the whole 2027 year on one page. If you read nothing else about flying stars, read this, do the five things at the bottom, and tape the no-go list inside a cupboard door. Future you, mid-July, tempted by a "quick" shelving project in the North, will thank present you.
The year runs from Lichun, 4 February 2027, to 3 February 2028. The full map with explanations is the 2027 flying stars chart; this page is the checklist version.
The four no-go zones — memorize these
All year, do not renovate, drill, dig, or knock down walls in these four sectors. This is the single most repeated rule in 2027 feng shui, and it is the one to actually follow.
- North — Five Yellow (5 Yellow star)
- West — San Sha, the Three Killings (2 Black star)
- Northeast — Year Breaker (3 Jade star)
- Southwest — Tai Sui, the Grand Duke (6 White star)
Daily coming-and-going, cleaning, and normal use are not "disturbance." The rule is about construction-level disruption. If a repair is genuinely urgent — a burst pipe, a broken lock, a safety fault — do it quietly and quickly, and don't turn it into a project. Safety always outranks any feng shui rule.
Every sector: do this, don't do that
| Sector | Do | Don't |
|---|---|---|
| Center — 9 Purple | Bright light, open space, celebrate here, small red/purple/orange accents | Clutter, dead plants, heavy stagnant furniture, all-red walls |
| Southeast — 8 White | Bright warm light, tidy surfaces, earth tones, use it daily | Darkness, clutter, neglecting the wealth corner |
| Northwest — 1 White | Best desk spot, quiet focus, blues and metallics | Clutter, noise, turning it into storage |
| Southwest — 6 White + Tai Sui | Calm respectful use, tidy and dignified, sit with your back to the Southwest | Renovate, drill, dig; sit facing Southwest for long periods |
| South — 4 Green | Desk or creative work here, blue accents, one healthy plant | Dead paperwork, dying plants, all-white chrome showroom |
| North — 5 Yellow | Metal cure (6-rod chime or salt water + 6 coins), quiet low-activity use, cool whites | Renovate, drill, dig; red walls, candles, heavy earth decor |
| West — 2 Black + San Sha | Metal cure, restful bedroom, clean air, daylight, white/silver tones | Renovate, drill, dig; red walls, candle collections, party-room use |
| Northeast — 3 Jade + Year Breaker | Warm red lamp, soft furnishings, low volume | Renovate, drill, dig; loud arguments in this sector |
| East — 7 Red | Blue/black accents, orderly surfaces, designated spots for keys, lock up | Earth tones, visible valuables, big money decisions at the East desk |
Do: the year's good habits
- Use the good sectors daily. The Southeast, Northwest, South, and Center repay daily use. A desk in the Northwest, a reading chair in the South, a bright tidy Southeast — these are the sectors that earn their keep. See the Southeast guide, the Northwest guide, the South guide, and the Center guide.
- Keep the calm sectors calm. The North, West, Northeast, and East are not banished rooms — they are quiet rooms. Sleep, read, and rest in them; just don't renovate, shout, or party in them. The North guide, West guide, East guide, and Northeast guide each give the room-by-room version.
- Fix small things promptly. A sticky lock, a flickering bulb, a dripping tap — small maintenance is the year's love language, especially in the North and West. A room that is looked after misbehaves less, whatever the stars say.
- Check in seasonally. Once a season, walk the house with this list: are the cures still in place, is the salt water clean, is the Center still bright, is anything scheduled in a no-go zone? Ten minutes, four times a year.
- Respect Tai Sui quietly. The Southwest wants dignity, not drama: tidy, well-lit, pleasant, undisturbed. The Tai Sui guide explains the sitting rule (back to the Southwest, not facing it) and the planning options for Southwest projects.
Don't: the year's traps
- Don't renovate in a no-go zone. North, West, Northeast, Southwest — all year. If a contractor is booked for one of these sectors, reschedule. This is the rule that matters most and the one people most often break by accident, because the project was planned before they read the chart.
- Don't feed an affliction with its own element. Red in the North or West (Fire feeds Earth). Heavy earth tones in the East (Earth feeds Metal). All-white chrome in the South (Metal chops Wood). The five-element cycle is the cheat code: if you know the cycle, you can check any color or object against any sector in seconds.
- Don't buy expensive cure kits. The complete 2027 shopping list costs less than a takeaway dinner — see the cures shopping list. Crystals, statues, and branded kits are marketing, not feng shui.
- Don't panic. Seriously. No star on this page is a prediction of disaster, and no room needs to be abandoned. Place the cures, follow the don'ts, and live your year. Anxiety is worse feng shui than any star.
- Don't confuse the calendar. The stars change at Lichun (4 February 2027), not at Chinese New Year and not on 1 January. Work done in January 2027 still falls under the previous year's chart; work planned for February 2028 falls under the next.
- Don't make big money decisions in the East. Move them to the Northwest or Southeast. The East desk is for routine work done carefully, not for contracts signed in a hurry.
If you only have 20 minutes (before Lichun)
- Hang a metal wind chime in the North.
- Hang a metal wind chime in the West.
- Put a warm red lamp in the Northeast.
- Make sure the Southeast is bright and tidy.
- Confirm nothing is scheduled for renovation in the North, Northeast, West, or Southwest.
Those five cover about 80% of the year's feng shui. Everything else on this page is refinement. The timed, step-by-step version — with the full weekend checklist — is the before-Lichun checklist.
Room-by-room quick check
Walk your home once with this list. For each room, note its sector and check the matching line:
- North room? Metal cure placed. No renovation planned. Colors calm, not red.
- Northeast room? Red lamp in place. Volume low. No drilling planned.
- West room? Metal cure placed. Restful setup. No construction planned.
- Southwest room? Tidy and dignified. Nothing scheduled that shakes the walls. Desk not facing Southwest.
- East room? Blue accents in place. Keys and valuables have designated spots. Surfaces orderly.
- South room? Creative tools visible. Plant alive. Desk clear.
- Center? Bright, open, celebrated — not a storage zone.
- Southeast? Bright, warm, tidy, used daily.
- Northwest? Desk clear, quiet, ready for focused work.
- Everywhere else? Clean, bright, lived-in. You're done.
Ten minutes with this list covers every rule on the page. Then live the year — the checklist has done its job, and you can forget about it until the seasonal check-in.

Frequently asked questions
What are the four no-go zones in 2027?
North (Five Yellow), West (San Sha), Northeast (Year Breaker), and Southwest (Tai Sui). Do not renovate, drill, or dig in these sectors from 4 February 2027 to 3 February 2028.
What are the five things to do before Lichun 2027?
Hang a metal wind chime in the North, hang one in the West, put a warm red lamp in the Northeast, make sure the Southeast is bright and tidy, and confirm nothing is scheduled for renovation in the four no-go zones.
Does normal daily life count as disturbing a no-go zone?
No. Walking, cleaning, cooking, and rearranging furniture are fine. Disturbance means construction-level disruption: renovating, drilling, digging, or demolishing. Urgent safety repairs always come first.
When does the 2027 feng shui year end?
3 February 2028. The year runs from Lichun on 4 February 2027 to 3 February 2028, and the stars change at Lichun, not at Chinese New Year or 1 January.
