2027 Cures Shopping List: One Trip, Every Sector Covered
Feng shui shopping has a scam problem: shelves of expensive crystals, statues, and branded "cure kits" for problems that a metal chime and a light bulb already solve. This page is the antidote. The complete 2027 list is short, ordinary, and inexpensive — and if you buy only one thing, it is the wind chimes.
Before you shop, map your nine sectors (phone compass, center of your home — the method is on the 2027 chart page). Then buy for the sectors you actually have rooms in. A home with no West room needs no West cure. The year runs from Lichun, 4 February 2027, to 3 February 2028, so buy before Lichun and place everything by 3 February.
The list
| Item | Qty | Goes in | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6-rod hollow metal wind chime | 2 | North, West | Metal drains the Earth stars: 5 Yellow (North), 2 Black (West) |
| Glass or ceramic bowl + sea salt + 6 metal coins | As alternative | North or West | Salt-water cure, same Metal logic, for rooms where a chime is impractical |
| Warm red lamp or red-shaded table lamp | 1 | Northeast | Fire exhausts the 3 Jade's Wood (Year Breaker sector) |
| Blue or navy cushions / throw | 1–2 | East | Water drains the 7 Red's Metal |
| Bright warm-white bulbs | As needed | Center, Southeast | Light activates 9 Purple (Center) and 8 White (Southeast) |
| One healthy green plant | 1 | South | Living Wood for the 4 Green study star, if you don't have one |
| Blue desk lamp | 1 (optional) | South | Water feeds Wood; lights the study work |
| Red, purple, or orange cushion | 1 (optional) | Center | Small Fire accent for the 9 Purple |
Total cost for most homes: less than a takeaway dinner. Buy the chimes first — they are the only item doing elemental work that nothing else in your home already does.
Buy first: the two wind chimes
The 6-rod hollow metal wind chime is the single most-used cure in 2027, because it serves both Earth afflictions: the North 5 Yellow and the West 2 Black. The logic is the five-element cycle: Earth produces Metal, so Metal quietly drains Earth all year. Hollow rods matter — a solid bar is decoration; a hollow tube is the traditional form, and it is what the cure specifies.
Where to hang them: in the North room and the West room, where they will not be knocked constantly but where air moves — near a window or a doorway, not buried in a cupboard. If a room has no good hanging spot, use the salt-water alternative instead: a bowl of salt water with 6 coins, placed in the sector. Same logic, same sector, no hanging required. One cure per sector is enough; two chimes in the North is not twice as good.
Buy second: the Northeast red lamp
The Northeast is the one affliction where red is the cure, not the problem. The 3 Jade is Wood, and Wood produces Fire — so Fire energy exhausts it. A warm red lamp or a red-shaded table lamp in the Northeast is the classic remedy, and it doubles as ambiance: warm light in the room where the household most needs its volume lowered. See the Year Breaker guide for why this sector also carries a strict no-construction rule — the lamp is the gentle half; the quiet is the strict half.
Do not confuse this with the North and West warning. Red in the Northeast is a cure; red in the North or West feeds the problem. Same color, opposite job, different sector. This is why the shopping list is organized by sector, not by color — and why buying "red things" in bulk and scattering them is the worst way to shop for 2027.
Buy third: color as cure (East blues, Center warmth, South green)
East — blue or navy cushions or a throw. The 7 Red is Metal, and Metal produces Water, so blue and black drain it. One or two navy cushions in the East room are the whole purchase. If the East room is already blue, buy nothing.
Center and Southeast — bright warm-white bulbs. The Center 9 Purple wants bright light, and the Southeast 8 White wants bright warm light. If your bulbs are dim, replace them; if they are already bright, buy nothing. A ceiling light on a timer in the Center, so it is never dark, is worth more than any object on this list after the chimes.
South — one healthy green plant, plus an optional blue desk lamp. The 4 Green wants living Wood and Water colors. If you already have a thriving plant in the South, buy nothing. If you kill plants reliably, skip the plant and buy the blue lamp instead — a dead plant in the study sector is worse than no plant. The full color logic is on the 2027 lucky colors page.
Center — one red, purple, or orange cushion (optional). A small Fire accent for the 9 Purple. Optional because light and tidiness already do most of the center's work; the cushion is the finishing touch, not the activation.
What you already own (check before you buy)
Most homes already own half this list. Check first: a metal wind chime from a previous year (still good if the rods are intact); white or gray bedding and curtains for the North and West (already the right colors); a blue throw somewhere in the house that can move to the East; a healthy plant that can move to the South; bright bulbs already in the Center. The honest shopping trip for many readers is two chimes and a red lamp shade — everything else is rearrangement. Do the rearrangement before the purchase, not after.
What NOT to buy
Do not buy expensive crystals, statues, or branded cure kits. Nothing in the 2027 chart requires a costly object. If a seller tells you a sector needs a special expensive item — a particular crystal for the 5 Yellow, a statue for Tai Sui — that is marketing, not feng shui. The traditional cures are ordinary objects precisely because they are ordinary: metal, salt, water, light, plants. Their ordinariness is the point — they work through the five-element cycle, not through price.
Also skip: red things for the North or West (the most common shopping mistake of the year), earth-toned decor for the East (it feeds the 7 Red), and chrome-everything for the South (Metal chops the 4 Green's Wood). If an item's color fights its sector, it does not matter how beautiful or expensive it is.
Placing day: the 30-minute routine
- Hang the North chime (or place the salt-water cure) in the North room.
- Hang the West chime (or place the salt-water cure) in the West room.
- Place the red lamp in the Northeast and switch it on in the evening.
- Move blue cushions to the East, the plant to the South, the warm cushion to the Center.
- Replace dim bulbs in the Center and Southeast; put the Center light on a timer.
- Walk the four no-go zones — North, West, Northeast, Southwest — and confirm nothing is scheduled for renovation there.
That is the whole installation. If you want the timed version with the 20-minute minimum, see the before-Lichun checklist. After placing day, you maintain, not install: dust the chimes, check the salt water every few months, water the plant, replace bulbs as they burn out.

Frequently asked questions
What do I actually need to buy for 2027?
For most homes: two 6-rod hollow metal wind chimes (North and West), one warm red lamp or red-shaded lamp (Northeast), blue or navy cushions or a throw (East), bright warm-white bulbs (Center and Southeast), and one healthy green plant (South, if you do not have one). That is the complete list.
Can I use a salt-water cure instead of a wind chime?
Yes. A glass or ceramic bowl with sea salt, water, and 6 metal coins is the classic alternative to the chime for the North or West. Check the water every few months and replace the whole setup at the next Lichun.
How much should the 2027 cures cost?
For most homes, less than a takeaway dinner. The chimes are the only item doing elemental work that nothing else in your home already does, so buy those first and treat everything else as optional.
What should I NOT buy for 2027?
Do not buy expensive crystals, statues, or branded cure kits. Nothing in the 2027 chart requires a costly object. If a seller tells you a sector needs a special expensive item, that is marketing, not feng shui.
